EvaGreen^® qPCR 2x Basic Mix HS is formulated for hotstart Taq. It contains all the necessary components for qPCR except for hotstart Taq polymerase, primers and a template. It is compatible with all known commercial qPCR instruments. PCR reactions can be monitored using your existing instrument setting for SYBR^®Green I or FAM. Because optical settings may vary from instrument to instrument and the wavelengths of EvaGreen^® dye are slightly longer than those of SYBR^® Green I, Ct value may also differ by +1 or -1 when compared with SYBR^® Green I side-by-side. However, regardless of the type of cycler you use, the fluorescence signal with EvaGreen^® in general should be significantly stronger than that with SYBR^® Green I. For example, on ABI 7900, reactions carried out with 10uL of 1x EvaGreen^® qPCR mix can be expected to generate more fluorescence than those carried out with 50 uL of Power SYBR^® mix.

EvaGreen^® qPCR 2x Basic Mix HS is also excellent for high-resolution melt curve analysis (HRM)¹ when used on certain qPCR instruments, such as the Rotor-Gene 6000, which has HRM capability.

We now offer four EvaGreen products: 1) EvaGreen dye, 20X in water (cat#31000), 2) EvaGreen dye, 25mM in DMSO (cat#31002), 3) EvaGreen, qPCR 2X Basic Mix (cat#31001), and 4) EvaGreen, qPCR 2X Basic Mix HS (for hotstart Taq) (cat#31004). The Basic Mix contains everything you need to run a qPCR except for the Taq enzyme. We will soon offer EvaGreen qPCR Master Mix.
